Getting started......

We had a great weekend.  I didn't want it to end.  Saturday, Robert and I drove to Chandler Fashion Center.  My sister was in charge of the book fair for her school and they were having it at Barnes and Noble.  This mall is the best!  All my favorite stores under one roof!  So we did some shopping and had lunch and BJ's.

I also subbed for Jan's bunco group Saturday night and won the Left, Right, Center jack pot. :)

Yesterday, I finished half of our Christmas cards.  That is a good feeling!  I'll work on the rest next weekend.  I also have our open house invites ready to go in the mail today.  I made these last year, but we never had our open house.  It's the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  A kick off to Christmas celebration.  Sometimes we never get to see friends during the month of Decemeber because of busy schedules.  Here are the invites.

A sad day

Today I went to a memorial service. My friend, Cynthia's, father passed away suddenly last Saturday.  I haven't spoken to Cynthia in a few years.  Nothing bad....just life gets busy and we both have kids and you know how that is. I know both her mother, Diane and her father, Carl.  Carl was a very nice man.  Today was a celebration of his life.  It was a beautiful service. Robert remembers swimming with him in his pool and letting him jump off the rocks.  He thought that was so cool!  Dave remembers that Carl loved to eat hot salsa with him.  Diane is such a strong, caring and loving person.  I am glad she has such a great family and I know she'll be fine.  My heart goes out to Cynthia and Diane and their whole family.

I had to change my banner. 

Everywhere I go all I see is Christmas decorating.

The grocery stores,  indoor and outdoor malls.  Everywhere! 

I am really starting to get into the Christmas spirit.  Our Christmas cards will arrive tomorrow.  I have made my list.  Just need to check on a couple of address changes. 

I will hopefully be DONE with ALL my shopping over the Thanksgiving weekend. 

Fall baseball will end the week of Thanksgiving.  Looking forward to that little break. 

I've been trying to get myself organized for the next two months.  I printed out the cutest Christmas planner here.  I put it in a small 3 ring binder with little dividers.

I am dying to scrap/make cards.....do something creative!  Maybe I'll get to on Friday or Sunday. 

I just hope that the Christmas season doesn't fly by and I miss it all.  Every year it's so rushed with last minute stuff.  That's why I am determined to get it all done within the next 2 weeks.   

I am sure I'll be changing my banner again soon.  I get bored easily.....

Gorgeous sunset

Tonight we had the most gorgeous sunset.  We were at Robert's baseball game and the lights were on at the other field so this was the best photo I could get.  It was beautiful.  It reminds me of why I love living in Arizona.  I know I complain about the heat in the summer, but we do have perfect weather in the fall, winter and spring.

Robert had his picture taken in this car on Sunday.  I just received it via e-mail.  I'll need to print it out and scrap it.  I'll take any photo of my kid that has him smiling for the camera these days!  Now if I can just find the time to scrap!     

Quick weekend update

We've been having a fabulous time while Jamie and Vern have been visiting!  I can't believe that they leave tomorrow.  Vern is an awesome guy.  I am very glad we have finally met him.  Robert is very happy that Jamie is here.  They are very close and I wish we lived closer to each other.  

Friday night Robert had his first Jr. High dance.  He slow danced with three different girls.  I am so not ready for this!  Here's a photo I took before the dance of Robert and Jamie.  Robert really needs a hair cut and he insisted on wearing a t-shirt to the dance.  I wanted him to wear a nice collared shirt. 

   

Last night we drove to downtown Phoenix and had dinner at Alice Cooper's restaurant.  Great food!  After, we tried to go bowling, but we couldn't get a lane.  So we went home and played Wii bowling. 

 

 

Today Dave, Robert, Jamie and Vern went to NASCAR.  It was super cold today and it rained!  They took jackets, but left them in the car.  They are on there way home right now. 

I went to the movies with Jan today and after we went to a new little outdoor shopping center and we got poured on!  We had a great day though. 

Scary Movies

It's no surprise that I LOVE scary movies.  Sherri e-mailed me about a new Friday the 13th coming out in February.  When that first Friday the 13th came out (1980) I was terrified of them!  I don't even think I've seen them all.  I think I need to go rent them and have a Friday the 13th movie marathon one weekend.  So that movie got me thinking of when we used to go to the drive-ins in high school.  I remember one time we saw The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Sleep-away Camp.  

      

Have you ever seen this movie?  I remember it being scary!  So I IMBD'd it and there are several of them.  I had no idea!  So now I need to go rent them. 

Now not every movie I watch in scary.......I recently went and saw Nights in Rodanthe.  I am glad my sister told me to take Kleenex.  Let's just say that Jan and I sat in the theater for quite a long time after the movie ended.  Great story, but boy did we CRY!  We cried so loud and so did everyone else - including the men that saw it.  

It's been a busy week and it's going to stay busy all thru the weekend.  Jamie is coming to visit tomorrow.  So I might not post for another week.  Have a great week! :)

Party Recap

Happy November 1st!  Halloween is over and it's time to start getting ready for Christmas.  That's hard to do when it's 90 degrees out!  

We had a great Halloween party.  Good times with friends.  Everyone got home safe.  Lara...your husband is the life of the party!  Dave and I are still talking about it today and keep laughing.  Even Vince (the neighbor) had us cracking up!   And Debbie?  Well she's our little coyote!  LOL!!

Today Dave and I  are vegging on the couch watching movies.  We are so tired!  Tonight Jan is coming over to watch The Shining.  Remember that movie?  Have a great day!

Three years ago today......

Three years ago today Sky became apart of our family.  I remember the day Dave brought her home.  I didn't want another cat.  Now I can't imagine life without her.  Yes.....she can be a pain and is always getting into things she shouldn't.  Sky has made Pumpkin a more lovable cat.  Pumpkin never wanted to have anything to do with any of us and now she's more friendly.  I think it's monkey see monkey do with both of them.  Sky has also picked up on some of Pumpkin's mannerisms. They fight and then I will find them sleeping next to each other.  I tried to take a picture of Sky tonight, but she's a spaz!  This was the best one I could get.  We bought them some Halloween catnip toys at Target and both of them have been higher than a kite!  It's pretty funny to watch.  Sky's eyes look possessed in this photo.
